Where Scripture and Science Agree about Consciousness

Interesting what 19th century SCRIPTURE and 21st century SCIENCE have to say about consciousness.

In the 21st century, many brilliant physicists like Leonard Susskind teach, “information is never lost”. In fact, there is a 2011 no-hiding theorem that proves this is true, information is never lost.

This proves our existence has everlasting purpose. The universe did seem to be too big a deal to not have purpose. If information is everlasting so is consciousness because information requires consciousness. This in turn means we will always exist, continuing in some dimension or another, perhaps until we know all truth and are able to help create more universes with more conscious beings to learn all truth.

Much earlier in the 19th century, scripture first taught us this principle about the intelligent consciousness of everlasting information. “Whatever principle of intelligence we attain unto in this life; it will rise with us in the resurrection.” D&C 130:18.

Where Science and Scripture Agree

What 1851 SCRIPTURE and 2023 SCIENCE says about worlds without number.

July 25, 2023, Toby Saunders published an article in science.com entitled, How many galaxies are in the Universe? A lot more than you’d think. In the article she said, “the number at this point is close to two trillion galaxies. . . Theoretically, there could be an infinite number of galaxies, as the size of the Universe itself could be infinite.”

It wasn’t until 1920’s that we realized there were more galaxies than the Milky Way galaxy. If the Milky Way had been the entire Universe, we may have been able to eventually count all the worlds within it.

Much earlier in 1851 publication of The Pearl of Great Price, in its selections from the Book of Moses is reference to the size of the Universe. This was an extract from the book of Genesis of Joseph Smith’s translation of the Bible, which he began in June 1830. This scripture refers to these trillions of galaxies created by God long before science was aware of the large uncountable number. Moses 1:33, “And worlds without number have I created; and I also created them for mine own purpose; and by the Son I created them, which is mine Only Begotten.”
