Has the James Webb Space Telescope located “spiritual” dark matter?

SCIENCE: The primary evidence for dark matter comes from calculations showing that many galaxies would behave quite differently if they did not contain a large amount of unseen matter. (Dark Matter, Wikipedia)

Sound familiar. Perhaps you have read this scripture.

SCRIPTURE: “There is no such thing as immaterial matter. All spirit is matter but it is more fine or pure, and can only be discerned by purer eyes; We cannot see it; but when our bodies are purified we shall see that it is all matter.” (Doctrine & Covenants 131:7-8, May 1843)

Big Bang model picture below is from, Mind Matters, Theoretical Physicist: Can’t Avoid a Beginning for Our Universe, by News August 20, 2022.

I have been writing blogs for almost a year proposing that our universe began mainly with dark matter which I have suggested is spiritual matter. I assumed because we cannot see dark matter or anything spiritual for that matter (pun intended) — that the further the James Webb Space Telescope peeked into the past all would become darkness. Instead more and more beautiful pictures were coming forth. On July 20, 2022 a red smudged photo was declared the oldest galaxy every observed. This galaxy is said to have emerged just 300 million years after the Big Bang.

The James Webb Space Telescope is still capturing some of the oldest galaxy images and reevaluating how old they really are. We know for sure they are very old. Redshift is the measurement of reddish light wavelengths to understand how far away a galaxy is and how old it may be. I began to wonder if dark matter can cause light to be red-shifted and if it is actually dark matter we are detecting by gravitational lensing. July 29 2022, Jacinta Bowler, wrote article in Cosmos Magazine, “Scientists use James Webb Space Telescope image to measure distance of (gravitationally) lensed galaxies.” (Gravitationally added by M. Kasey from information in Bowler article.)

SCIENCE: Today the approximate total mass-energy content of the universe contains 5% ordinary matter and energy, 27% dark matter, and 68% of a form of energy called dark energy. Dark matter may be composed of some as-yet-undiscovered subatomic particles. Dark matter is classified as “cold,” “warm,” or “hot” according to its velocity (more precisely, its free streaming length). Current models favor a cold dark matter scenario, in which structures emerge by the gradual accumulation of particles. Dark matter does not bend light itself; mass bends spacetime. Light follows the curvature of spacetime, resulting in the lensing effect. (Notes from Wikipedia – Dark Matter)

SCRIPTURE: “First spiritual, secondly temporal, which is the beginning of my work; and again, first temporal, and secondly spiritual, which is the last of my work–” (D&C 29:32)

SCIENCE: Ordinary matter is affected by radiation, which is the dominant element of the universe at very early times. As a result, its density perturbations are washed out and unable to condense into structure. If there were only ordinary matter in the universe, there would not have been enough time for density perturbations to grow into the galaxies and clusters currently seen. Dark matter provides a solution to this problem because it is unaffected by radiation. Therefore, its density perturbations can grow first. The resulting gravitational potential acts as an attractive potential well for ordinary matter collapsing later, speeding up the structure formation process. (Notes from Wikipedia, Dark Matter)

SCIENCE: 13.7 billion years ago the estimated division of total energy in the universe was 10% neutrinos, 15% photons, 12% atoms, and 63% dark matter.

It appears because of the high percentage of dark matter, what JWST is seeing in the long ago past is dark matter. If dark matter is indeed spiritual dark matter that would account for 7 billion years of spiritual creation followed by more than 6.7 billion years of physical creation so far.

Dark Matter to Normal Matter

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT: First spiritual dark matter to secondly form temporal physical normal matter, which is the beginning. And again, first temporal, when the normal matter decays and runs it course, and secondly returns to everlasting spiritual dark matter for further progress in God’s great work. (D&C 29:32)

Evolution, Entropy, and the Creation

C.S. Lewis once said, “If I find in myself desires which nothing this world can satisfy, the only logical explanation is that I was made for another world.”

In the same way, most mortals possess a longing for order that seems strange in a world of chaos. How could we long for something we never knew existed? Order is an eternal principle that feels like home and is part of what we knew in our pre-mortal existence. Thus I consider the longing for order that most of us experience a form of homesickness. (Unknown)

Creation is bringing the universe into ordered existence. God organized our universe but why does it not feel very organized? Possibly because He first had to let the universe be disorganized. It takes entropy to set physical evolution into motion. Entropy is a measure of a systems disorder or uncertainty. Evolution is change. We also refer to evolution as the process in the characteristics of a species over several generations which relies on natural selection. But natural selection brings us uncertainty.

Without disorder there would’ve been no components or testing of the components for an organized universe. The physical universe is a necessary prototype for everlasting existence, a way to organize and check the obedience of all things, especially intelligences that have progressed to awareness. Perfection will need order and unity. Unity is best taught in a dimension that allows for birth, change, decision making, decay, and death. This requires entropy. We best learn unity by belonging to a family and society that cares for little ones and sick ones and those who are needy. We had to fall to rise up again with everlasting bodies.

My philosophy is the evolution of our universe from a more progressive universe began with dark energy, darkness (Genesis 1:2, Intelligences). Then God used the laws of nature and with a big bang 13.8 billion years ago, inverted some of the dark energy (Abraham 3:21, Intelligence) into dark matter (Genesis 1:6, Spirit). God then allowed the dark matter (D&C 29:32) to gradually slow allowing the faster dark matter to overlap and entangle with the slower dark matter elements, about 4.5 billion years ago for our earth to form normal matter (Genesis 1:7, Physical).

The normal matter earth formed from the spiritual dark matter prototype. God separated the dry land from the seas (Genesis 1:9-10). He organized plants (Genesis 1:11-12).

The plants needed photosynthesis of the sun and seasons (Genesis 1:15-16), then sea life formed (Genesis 1:20).

The oldest rocks found on our earth date to over 4 billion years ago, these rocks showed evidence of contact with liquid water suggesting our earth already had seas at the time (Genesis 1:10).

The Moon formed 4.48 billion years ago and 30 million years after the Solar System (Genesis 1:15-16). Fossils are dated around 3.5 billion years ago, fungi date some 2.4 billion years ago (Genesis 1:11), 2.8 billion years ago bacteria and oxygen emerged.

Life emerged from non-living chemicals. One billion years ago the first multicellular plants emerged, probably green algae. Then 900 million years ago true multicellular animals such as sponges, 530 million years ago fish and earliest vertebrates evolved in the oceans.

Around 538-251 million years ago life colonized the land, first plants, then animals (Genesis 1:24). There were land animals that continued to evolve.

200,000 years ago, Homo sapiens originated and 32,000 years ago, they first showed signs of spirituality. 11,000 years ago, Homo sapiens tool use and communication continued to improve and interpersonal relationships became more intricate. 7000 BC ideas could be exchanged quickly and passed down the generations (Genesis 2:7). The cultural evolution quickly outpaced biological evolution and history proper began in the Fertile Crescent in the Middle East.

I would suggest the spiritual dark matter prototype was the spark of life. Without spiritual dark matter the normal mass Earth couldn’t have evolved intelligent physical man so soon. The Earth’s first civilization was at Sumer in the Middle East, between 4000-3000 BC. In the prototype spiritual dark matter universe, God had prepared Adam and Eve, requiring human agency for them to make some important decisions for important work they would do when born on the Earth in 4000 BC (Genesis 2). It was the time the Earth was finally civilized. Well, somewhat more sophisticated and ready for intelligent man to be tested.

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT is knowing all we know now about the physical evolution of the Earth, could we have explained it to an ancient civilization any better than Moses did as recorded in Genesis? M. Kasey
