Elohim is a plural Hebrew word meaning — gods.

Excerpt from the novel, Marty’s Dark Matter:

“Who created the Creator?” Marty baited Ty one evening.

“You want my opinion?” He immediately took the hook. “Everything was not created but always existed.”

“Everything is made of energy. Is that what you are trying to say?” Marty asked.

“In a way, but then you’ve heard my theory many times. All of the universe started as intelligences of light and truth, which is energy and mass. An intelligence can progress to be an element or an entity, depending on the intelligence’s will to progress. Think of physical life as a way to introduce emotion to spiritual intelligence. The most noble or progressive spiritual intelligences are organized into human beings.”

“Then who organized the Organizer?” Marty taunted.

“It’s possible that an intelligence could be so progressive as to acquire all truth and be perfect. A perfect intelligence, or intelligences, may have organized a plan to obtain feeling and emotion in a social world before actually experiencing the process. The Savior is an example of a spirit becoming perfect and part of the Godhead before He suffered earthly trial or was resurrected like God the Father.”

“So, which came first, the chicken or the egg?” Marty laughed, still trying to move from speculation to science.

“Mortality would allow evolution to form the elements of life, the opportunity to be born, the need for the egg, decay, and death, and progress the need for the immortal chicken.”

“Mortality is cruel. Why would an all-powerful being organize something so painful? How sad is an organization that the minute we are born we begin to die?” Marty protested.

“What if it’s physical life that allows us to be an entity with sensation and teaches us how to be social for the eternities?” Ty looked hurt. It was a hurt look she had seen many times before. She knew he longed for her to be more receptive to his beliefs, but even after all this time, Marty still was not convinced.

“That is why you included morality in the laws of the universe. Without morals there could be no everlasting social life. Eternity would be as chaotic as earth life.” Marty laughed again, trusting he would love her in spite of her lack of faith.

“Yes, truth or obedience to morals as well as mathematical law is the only way an intelligence can progress communally. In my mind, both laws are the same eternal truth.”

Some twenty years later, Marty wrote in her journal:

From progressive intelligences (dark energy), Ty would suggest we were all organized as spiritually (dark matter) creations by resurrected heavenly parents (Elohim). Elohim is a plural Hebrew word meaning ‘gods,’ but usually takes a singular verb. Because our heavenly parents are ‘one’ in purpose they could be referred to in the singular as well.

Genesis 2:24, “Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife; and they shall be one flesh.” Gender is the characteristics or behavioral traits that make us different from each other. As humans (normal mass) our gender identity becomes a combination of behavioral and physical traits that help define who we are and our purpose. The cleaving is an equal partnership with nurturing and presiding interrelated and overlapping responsibilities according to Elder Ulisses Soares of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.

Since Ty has gone, I feel half whole. We were ‘one’ in love and purpose and now must be separated for a period of time. All pre-mortal beings and immortal resurrected beings have everlasting maturity. The Plan of Salvation organizes beings for a potential eternal companionship. Only during the mortal human part of the plan are we born and then age and die.

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT: Perhaps our Father and Mother in Heaven are ‘one’ from their own earthly relationship before becoming the Elohim of our universe. D&C 121:28, “A time to come in the which nothing shall be withheld, whether there be one God or many gods, they shall be manifest.”

Spirit without a physical experience would be infinity without connection.

Excerpt from Marty’s Dark Matter, an allegorical life story of a high-functioning autistic girl named, Marty. This novel proves over and over again that ancient scripture predicted much of modern scientific theory and thus there had to be a Creator. (Chapter 14, No Purpose Without the Other)

That evening Ty stopped over after supper, and the conversation turned to space travel through different dimensions, of all things. He and Marty sat on the back porch, each with half a slice of watermelon. Ty was religious and treated Marty as if her newness to church and spiritual doubts would easily be overcome. She was sure he didn’t understand how deeply she distrusted religious theory. Still, she didn’t want him to know–after all, this was her chance to marry status and money, and she could pretend to be willing to believe. She did not want to lose this relationship; she had lost relationships for much less in the past.

“I guess one could travel through space-time if all the right conditions were met.”

“Let me throw in my two bits,” Ty said with a twinkle in his eyes, a look he often got when hypothesizing about the unknown. He spit watermelon seeds into the flowers below the step.

“Two bits?” she questioned.

Ty laughed as if her struggle with intangible thought was one of the things he adored about her. “My thoughts,” he explained. “As I understand it, as energy collapses into a black hole, it creates a funnel. According to the premise, the distance once inside the black hole is very short because of the density of matter in a black hole. I imagine the black hole would be much thinner than the thickness of an atom. This opening could quickly, in no time, take the spirit to a parallel dimension. This may be why many of the prophets when asked the location of post-mortal life–spirit life, or paradise–say that it’s right here on earth. The black hole at the center of the Milky Way could be white and beautiful on the other side, sometimes referred to as white tunnel, and it could return the spirit to a spiritual paradise on this earth.”

“I am not sure if it is through black holes we would travel or through wormholes,” Marty said. “The theory of general relativity has valid solutions that contain wormholes.”

“Wormholes?” Ty took another big bite of watermelon. “Just like the whirlwind that took Elijah into heaven.”

“Y-es,” Marty stuttered as she tried to recall the story of Elijah. Not remembering, Marty continued, “It could be holes in space-time which could re-emerge at another location. This could be a conduit to your spirit world.” As she explained how these holes might appear and disappear spontaneously and how such wormholes had been suggested as transportation candidates, his big smile seemed to show he was impressed with her exotic matter knowledge. She was known for her obsessive behavior, but Ty seemed more impressed with her ability to try to understand weird things.

Marty was pleased that Ty seemed to enjoy peculiar conversations about wormholes and such, just like her family. Their scientific curiosity was something she worried might seem strange to outsiders.

They continued to speculate about paradise until Ty checked his watch and realized that it was getting late. He drew her into his arms and, after a loving kiss under the beautiful moonlight, said good night.

Strange how she hated to be hugged but this was entirely different and wonderful. She regretted he had to leave.

Many years later, Marty wrote the following in her journal: Black and white holes and a theory about wormholes is fascinating. These holes seem to represent conduits, allowing movement between different dimensions such as dark matter spirit, physical normal mass, and higher finer resurrected mass. 2 Kings 2:11: “And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire [conduit], and horses of fire [forces of nature], and parted them both asunder [gravity inward and electromagnetism outward forming a tunnel]; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind [wormhole] into heaven.” People who have had a life after death experience often refer to it as traveling very quickly through a bright tunnel.

Quickened seems to move spiritual mass instantaneously, but flesh does not seem to profit from this mode of transportation. John 6:63: “It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit and they are life.” Seems the flesh has to be transfigured or changed in composition and then if necessary moved temporarily, whereas the spirit can be moved quickly between dimensions.
