Excerpt from the novel, Marty’s Dark Matter:
“Who created the Creator?” Marty baited Ty one evening.
“You want my opinion?” He immediately took the hook. “Everything was not created but always existed.”
“Everything is made of energy. Is that what you are trying to say?” Marty asked.
“In a way, but then you’ve heard my theory many times. All of the universe started as intelligences of light and truth, which is energy and mass. An intelligence can progress to be an element or an entity, depending on the intelligence’s will to progress. Think of physical life as a way to introduce emotion to spiritual intelligence. The most noble or progressive spiritual intelligences are organized into human beings.”
“Then who organized the Organizer?” Marty taunted.
“It’s possible that an intelligence could be so progressive as to acquire all truth and be perfect. A perfect intelligence, or intelligences, may have organized a plan to obtain feeling and emotion in a social world before actually experiencing the process. The Savior is an example of a spirit becoming perfect and part of the Godhead before He suffered earthly trial or was resurrected like God the Father.”
“So, which came first, the chicken or the egg?” Marty laughed, still trying to move from speculation to science.
“Mortality would allow evolution to form the elements of life, the opportunity to be born, the need for the egg, decay, and death, and progress the need for the immortal chicken.”
“Mortality is cruel. Why would an all-powerful being organize something so painful? How sad is an organization that the minute we are born we begin to die?” Marty protested.
“What if it’s physical life that allows us to be an entity with sensation and teaches us how to be social for the eternities?” Ty looked hurt. It was a hurt look she had seen many times before. She knew he longed for her to be more receptive to his beliefs, but even after all this time, Marty still was not convinced.
“That is why you included morality in the laws of the universe. Without morals there could be no everlasting social life. Eternity would be as chaotic as earth life.” Marty laughed again, trusting he would love her in spite of her lack of faith.
“Yes, truth or obedience to morals as well as mathematical law is the only way an intelligence can progress communally. In my mind, both laws are the same eternal truth.”
Some twenty years later, Marty wrote in her journal:
From progressive intelligences (dark energy), Ty would suggest we were all organized as spiritually (dark matter) creations by resurrected heavenly parents (Elohim). Elohim is a plural Hebrew word meaning ‘gods,’ but usually takes a singular verb. Because our heavenly parents are ‘one’ in purpose they could be referred to in the singular as well.
Genesis 2:24, “Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife; and they shall be one flesh.” Gender is the characteristics or behavioral traits that make us different from each other. As humans (normal mass) our gender identity becomes a combination of behavioral and physical traits that help define who we are and our purpose. The cleaving is an equal partnership with nurturing and presiding interrelated and overlapping responsibilities according to Elder Ulisses Soares of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.
Since Ty has gone, I feel half whole. We were ‘one’ in love and purpose and now must be separated for a period of time. All pre-mortal beings and immortal resurrected beings have everlasting maturity. The Plan of Salvation organizes beings for a potential eternal companionship. Only during the mortal human part of the plan are we born and then age and die.
SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT: Perhaps our Father and Mother in Heaven are ‘one’ from their own earthly relationship before becoming the Elohim of our universe. D&C 121:28, “A time to come in the which nothing shall be withheld, whether there be one God or many gods, they shall be manifest.”
