Which came first?

In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.” Genesis 1:1

What beginning? In this reference, there was already a God.

We now know (as of 2013) that the universe is flat with only a 0.4% margin of error. This means it is likely infinite in extent. Brian Cox – Is the Universe Infinite? YouTube 5 Feb. 2022, “We know, or strongly suspect the universe is much bigger than the piece we can see- we have good reason to think that is the case. Whether it is infinite is another question. Can we picture infinity, well no one can picture infinity.”

Brian Cox continues, “We have some theories that the universe was in existence before [inflation] … that means that actually the universe could have always been there – eternal… I talk to some people and they get a bit upset about that. Some people would rather it had a beginning. The idea that it might be around forever is more frightening somehow than the fact it began. It is interesting how some people’s minds work.”

So which came first in infinity – the Creator or the Creation? In infinity there is no beginning or end and thus no first and last. I would suggest our Creator has always existed; just as we have always existed in some form or another. I find it easier to believe the universe has always existed than to believe it exploded out of nothing.
